We’re thrilled to have the latest chapter in David De La Garza’s evolution as DLG. land in our lap, with the release of his third single, “I Just Want You.”

Following the sultry grooves of “Rich Man” and the summery sway of “Aperol,” this cinematic new track leans into indie textures and raw emotion, marking a bold departure in his boundary-pushing catalogue.

“I Just Want You” channels the collective heartbreak of Alabama Shakes’ fiercest heartbreak ballads, distilled into one aching refrain. DLG. explains,

“This song feels like if every member of Alabama Shakes all got broken up with on the same day and then wrote a song about it. It feels like running through the airport to catch her before she gets on that flight. I wrote this about the most painful breakup in my life, the only person I really never foresaw splitting with. It felt like it almost killed me. It felt like this song.” His voice trembles with regret and longing over lush strings and shimmering reverb, conjuring images of frantic goodbyes and doors closing just out of reach.

Originally hailing from Austin, Texas, and now based in Los Angeles, DLG. has quietly amassed over 50 million streams by marrying infectious melodies with adventurous production. His debut album promises to weave soulful vocals—recalling the introspection of Mac Miller—with psychedelic, anthemic landscapes that nod to indie visionaries like Tame Impala. Even the album’s visuals celebrate his DIY ethos; artwork and video treatments were crafted in collaboration with his mother, a celebrated painter and sculptor.

As “I Just Want You” takes flight on streaming platforms worldwide, DLG. is gearing up for a fall tour that will bring his magnetic live show to fans across the country. With a devoted following and industry buzz mounting, he stands poised to claim his place among indie music’s most compelling new voices.
