juuku’s debut Dim Mak EP ‘Lavender Dreams & Scarlet Nightmares’ has finally landed after a run of preview singles have teased its release so far this year. It’s a stunning display of the producer’s genre-blending talent and innovative production.
From start to finish, the EP exudes an emotive, dynamic, and hyped electronic energy. Tracks ‘Lavender’, ‘Without U’, and ‘Moonlight’ offer a dreamy and smooth sonic experience, while ‘No Turning Back’ and ‘Lock Up’ showcase juuku’s heavier side of production. The EP also features an impressive lineup of artists, including Namelle, NEWYON, holywatr, Gianni Taylor, and a collaboration with S.S.O.S.
Speaking on the EP’s meaning, juuku shares;
“Lavender Dreams and Scarlet Nightmares is my gateway to the two different sides of juuku. I have synesthesia, which means I see colors when I listen to music. Anytime I make music – it’s usually in the tone of red (scarlet) or purple (lavender). For my art, and the universe I’ve been building with it, the lavender side represents the beautiful, wondrous atmospheric side of juuku, while the scarlet side represents the darker, chaotic worlds that I create. This EP is my first foray into exploring both sides of this universe, across multiple genres, trying to find myself in different parts of these worlds, so that I could share it with you.”
Hotly tipped as one of the most promising names on the electronic music scene, DJ/Producer/Multimedia Artist juuku has just come off tour, supporting Steve Aoki on select dates of the Dim Mak honcho’s HiROQUEST: Genesis Tour. Here he staged his much-talked-about live set complete with full audio and visual curation.
