Manchester, UK is the home of DEADLIFE an artist who has just appeared on our radar despite having released seven albums since 2017 with an eighth on the way in November!
DEADLIFE a.k.a Ed Hawx is a leading name in the fast-growing Darksynth genre – a darker offshoot of the Synthwave scene- and is undoubtedly a name to watch. He scored a Billboard Electronic Album Sales Chart #12 hit with previous album ‘Singularity’, has just hit 100k monthly listeners on Spotify and his previous single ‘Deviant’ has reached 1 million streams – not bad for an ‘underground’ artist.
DEADLIFE lists his influences as cyberpunk culture, turn of the millennium computer game soundtracks and retro sci-fi movies. This combination can certainly be heard in his music and ‘Drift’ is a fine example with synth-driven gothic melodies and a dystopian edge to the track.
It doesn’t hurt that DEADLIFE is signed to NewRetroWave, the label which is a main driving force behind the retro synth scene and which now counts over 1 million loyal followers on YouTube.
DEADLIFE’s next album ‘Dark Nation’ is out on November 20th and we’re looking forward to it.
