September 2020 saw the release of Mumbai-born producer, Hotel Garuda’s debut EP, The Tension on the reputable Mom + Pop Music imprint. Fast forward two months and the multitalented artist has enlisted the talents of DMV-based collective, Act Natural, to remix the EP’s opening track, Rush.
Act Natural are some of my favorite up and coming artists right now, and I knew I should reach out to them for a genre-flipping remix for my EP. They just ooze talent from all angles of creativity, whether it’s vocals, production or art direction. I think these guys are ones to look out for in the near future.
Hotel Garuda
The remix starts off with delicate piano turn into rolling drums, clever use of autotune and into head-nodding hip hops vibes.
We always love collaborating with our friends, and when Hotel Garuda reached out, we knew it would be a great fit musically! He gave us all the creative freedom possible and let us do our thing until we were all satisfied and ready to release it. We’re all really proud of how the remix came out and can’t wait for everyone to hear it!
Act Natural
Since graduating from liberal arts college, Occidental College in Los Angeles, Hotel Garuda aka Aseem Mangaokar has epitomized the DIY culture of modern dance music. His versatile sound has seen him solicited for official remixes for the likes of Lorde, Lana Del Ray, Kaskade, and Galantis, while his in-demand profile has landed him sets at significant festivals such as Electric Forest, Coachella, Shambhala and EDC Las Vegas.
Act Natural are an emerging group from the northeast of the United States, made up of many talented artists and producers such as Woahkill, PABLO, Fysoos, Graham Bright, Rayman On The Beat, Trakstar Wei, and Angl. They’ve been gaining in popularity thanks to their Act Natural mixtape series, which have now accumulated over 350,000 streams, executively produced by Rayman On The Beat with finishing touches served up by Trakstar Wei and Angl. 2020 has also seen them release a couple of genre bending singles, She Bad and Santa Maria.
