Saudia Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman recently announced “a revolution in civilization” as he revealed plans to build The Line, a 500-meter-tall, 170 kilometers long, mirror-clad skyscraper designed to house nine million people in Saudi Arabia. That’s taller than the Empire State Building.

The Line is a futuristic design unlike anything the world has ever seen. Looking like it has been pulled from the latest sci-fi movie, the linear city will be 200 meters wide. It will have a footprint of just 34 square kilometers with people living in neighborhoods where all daily needs are accessible within a five-minute walk.

The linear city’s infrastructure will make it possible to travel from end to end in twenty minutes, according to its designers, meaning there will be no need for cars. The Line promises to deliver a healthier and more sustainable way of life.

The Line is planned as part of the Neom initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 drive to diversify its economy and become less reliant on oil.

As a concept and design, The Line is pretty impressive. Check out the video for more details.
