In 1984, Dune was released and became one of Hollywood’s most expensive flops. Thirty six years later they’ve decided to have another go at bringing Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller to the big screen.
Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival,” “Blade Runner 2049”) directs a stellar cast including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Oscar nominee Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, Oscar winner Javier Bardem and more.
“Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
The film is slated to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020. Fingers crossed this one lives up to the hype!
