London’s hit-churning imprint Perfect Havoc has just dropped a new single from the enigmatic house music producers, Pink Panda, and it’s something a little different from past releases.
‘Radio’ sits in the realm of afrobeat house, underlaying driving drum rhythms and bouncy dance pop on top of the multi-platinum Afroswing sounds of British rapper, ZieZie.
Not much is known about the producers behind the Pink Panda masks – voted at No. 65 in DJ Mag’s 2021 Top 100 DJs poll (up 17 places from 2020). Their credibility, however, is not under question having previously signed original productions with dance music juggernauts Island Records, Spinnin’ and Armada Music.
The Pandas have gained international radio play and millions of streams, remixed for pop stars Meduza, Dua Lipa and Kesha, and toured extensively across East Asia and Europe.
Joining Pink Panda on this new single is the British songwriter of Congolese heritage, ZieZie. Now a platinum selling artist, ZieZie first posted his music online in 2016 and swiftly went on to concoct his first UK Official Charts hit single, ‘Fine Girl’ with producers iLL BLU via a recording contract with RCA.
Alongside multi-platinum artist Aitch, ZieZie appeared on ‘Buss Down’ and ‘French Kisses’ and joined Aitch on his sold-out tour. With a flurry of support including nods from Robert Bruce (Capital Xtra) and DJ Target (1xtra), to also working with Olivia Holt and US rapper King Critical, it’s no wonder there’s a queue of talent waiting in line to work with him.
There’s an extra level of creativity in the output of independent label, Perfect Havoc seen so far in 2022. From its trademark crossover dance sounds to tech house from Alfie Cridland and Covenants, and now this latest afrobeat house single, it’s an exciting time for the label.
With a talent-packed schedule for 2022 that also features releases from Just Kiddin, PS1, Simon Fields, Wankelmut and Tobtok, Perfect Havoc is guaranteed to serve up a ton of new accessible and underground house sounds from both breaking and established talent.
