From underdog to Hollywood legend, Sylvester Stallone tells his story in Sly, the documentary.

For nearly 50 years Sylvester Stallone has entertained millions with iconic characters and blockbuster franchises, from his Oscar-winning self-written and starring Rocky to Rambo and The Expendables.

This retrospective documentary offers an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor-writer-director-producer, paralleling his inspirational underdog-story with the indelible characters he has brought to life.

While Sly’s many triumphs are celebrated in this trailer, he also reflects on the sacrifices he’s made and the regrets he has from 50 years in the business. “When you’re a truly absorbed filmmaker you put things before your family and the repercussions are quite devastating,” Sly confesses at one point over shots of himself laid up in a hospital bed, before adding: “Now I realise that’s all that fuckin’ matters.”

Watch Sly’s story from when his love of film began as an escape from a rocky childhood to the international star he is today, only on Netflix from November 3.
