THE POLO BAR (1 East 55th Street at 5th Avenue) is now a long-running hit, but I recently had the opportunity to dine there over the summer. The bar area and dining room are magnificent, stunningly stylized with Ralph Lauren, POLO themed paintings and various other artwork. Of course, a star-studded pulse vibrated throughout the restaurant, making for an exciting evening of people-watching. A knowledgeable and courteous staff provides a warm welcome and a detailed description of all menu items, which is a solid combination of comfort/American selections. Everything is expertly prepared and served in a leisurely manner. It’s easy to see why it is such a requested dining evening and it is a good idea to reserve at least one month ahead!
