I’ve been to some weird house parties in my time but UK artists Karen Harding and Shift K3Y have raised the bar in the video for their new single ‘Morning’. They gather with a collection of outlandish and otherworldly characters in a dreamlike party where it seems that morning never arrives.
I’m not sure how much fun the party is but it’s certainly a feast for the eyes. The cinematic grade, retro decor and high fashion outfits mix with the surreal players and Karen Harding, who looks as though she could be a movie star throughout, to create a music video with real quality.
The track (out on US powerhouse Ultra Music) is instantly catchy with Karen’s soaring vocals and Shift K3Y’s bouncing, high energy production, full of old school sounds delivered in a contemporary style. There’s very little to dislike about this one.
Karen Harding is a name to keep an eye on. Since she hit the UK top 10 with her debut single ‘Say Something’ (now certified platinum with over 600,000 sales), she has crashed through 400 million streams with over 2.5 million monthly listeners.
Shift K3Y is no slouch either. One of the freshest, forward-thinking producers out there, he was behind Becky Hill’s huge recent hit, ‘Better Off Without You’ and remains one of the few producers able to deliver credible underground releases alongside this crossover success.
