It’s fair to say the world has been laughing for some time at Nicolas Cage’s ability to play versions of himself in just about every film he’s ever made, from Face Off to P I G.

But it’s Nicolas Cage who’s laughing now as he finally gets to plays the role of his career – the fictionalised ‘Nick Cage’ in the new action comedy, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

In by far the most ‘Nic Cage’ role he’s ever played, the trailer shows a creatively unfulfilled Nick Cage facing financial ruin, who must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan played by Pedro Pascal.

Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channelling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.

With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nicolas Cage.

We can’t say the release of a Nicolas Cage film would usually get us excited, but this one is different. The trailer looks genuinely funny, it has a strong cast (check Ike Barinholtz), and we finally get to see the comedy side in Cage’s acting arsenal.

Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is in cinemas from 22nd April 2022.
