Who doesn’t love a Pixar movie? News is that the animation studio will release another all-new original feature film next year when ‘Turning Red’ arrives in cinemas.
Young actress Rosalie Chiang lends her voice to Mei Lee, a quirky, confident 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS) she suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda.
Sandra Oh (The Chair, Killing Eve) voices Mei Lee’s protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. We learn that Ming knows more about the issue than we first thought in what turns out to be family legacy.
Mei’s friends are a colourful bunch that look set to guarantee the laughs, and music comes from the fictional boy band 4*Town, featuring tunes written by Billie Eilish and Finneas.
Written and directed by Pixar Animation Studios’ director Domee Shi – who won an Oscar® for her 2018 short film, ‘Bao’ – and produced by Lindsey Collins, Disney, ‘Turning Red’ lands in UK cinemas on 11 March.
